Motherhood Monday: Some Pictures of Baby Claire

I can't believe that this Tuesday it will have been two weeks since my baby Claire was born....TWO WEEKS! It has been hard at times, but I wouldn't trade any of it for the world. Claire and I are getting to know each other, bonding, and having a great time...despite the ups and downs that naturally come with new parenthood. Claire is gaining weight and feeding much better then she was last week so that makes me feel far less and anxious. And a relaxed mamma is a relaxed baby! We spend our days eating, napping, wandering in the garden and watching trashy TV. I am ashamed to admit that I have developed an addiction with "Bethany Every after" and all of the "Desperate Housewives of..." shows. So shoot me, when it is 3am and you are pumping your boobs yet again, eyeballs bugging out of your head, brain a pile of mush, and running on two hours of sleep, trashy TV is the greatest thing ever. Once I am done feeding Claire and then pumping we curl up skin to skin on the couch and watch some trash while mommy eats a late night snack, quality girly time.

My favorite time is our afternoon nap, in the big bed together. I take off Claire's onesie and my shirt and she curls up like a bug on my chest, deep in sleep. Skin to skin contact is so wonderful, she relaxes and calms me like nothing else. Together we sleep like champs and Dad has to work to wake us up for a feed. Her smell, tiny baby breaths, and little squeeks and grunts warm my heart and make me tear up with joy.

It is currently almost midnight the night before as I write this, and I need to go get some sleep while I can because the age old saying "sleep when baby sleeps" is SO TRUE! Trust me on that one, you really do need to sleep when baby sleeps as often as you can.

  2. Goodness, I feel i've really been with you these past months. You are such a clever mama, and you are doing so well ( and hubby of course)
Put your feet up whenever you can, and watch as much trash as you can- don't worry about anything, and enjoy being in the moment. sweet kisses for Claire, and hug for you.
