Friday Foto Fun: Our Seattle Trip

So one week ago today we took off for a long weekend in Seattle. One last YEE-HAW trip before a) I get too big and too prego to have much fun and b) before we have a poopy diapered milkaholic tagging along with us everywhere we go. I jest! I am looking forward to lugging around my lil mil dud :)

We of course had to visit the famous Pike Place Market. I hadnt been here since
I was a kid and it was just as loud and busy as I remembered it to be!

We enjoyed wandering the city at night taking pictures of the neat architecture that
blends old and uber modern
Took the "SubSeattle" bus tour and got a tour of Seattles grunge, rock, and blues musical roots
This include a stop at Kurt Cobains old house where he sadly took his own life. Ryan and I love Nirvana, so this was a really special part of the tour for both of us. In the park near his house a bench has been turned into a memorial piece for him. I could have spent HOURS reading all of the notes, and studying the little offerings left behind for his spirit. It was beautiful and touching.
I guess you kinda have to be an ex-grunge kid to appreciate these photos as they are largely based on song lyrics. "Gramma Take Me Home" reminded me of an old girlfriend teaching me how to head-bang in Grade 10...ahhhhhhhh memories of teenage angst!
Below is a picture of the sculpture that inspired Soundgardens "Black Hole Sun". I was so FREAKING excited to see this, it blew my mind. I lovvvvvvved this song as a teenager, hell I still do! Kinda neat how you can see the Space needle through it too....

We also visit the Experience Music Project, a museum dedicated to MUSIC! Heaven!

The Jimi Hendrix exhibit was by far my favorite. I wonder if he would like the fact that
I named one of my shop items after him??? LOL!
This last photo below is just a random Iphone photo dump collage from the weekend
Photos 1, 2, and 4 are Ryan and I being dorks in a vintage shop. The last two are some AWESOME onesies we got for the bug. That last one is hard to see but it is from the Science Fiction Museum and reads "I just boldy went" Yah, we are that dorky

  6. My best friend is currently residing in Seattle and I've seen a little about the music exhibition - too cool isn't it! And oh, the infamous Pike Place Market! I'm a Starbucks fan so that place got me most excited.

Glad you had an incredible time there! x

  7. Looks like you had a wonderful time in Seattle. I love having friends and family visiting me here (yes I live in Seattle). Every time someone new comes they want to see something different than the guest before. If it weren't for them I would never have seen the underground of Seattle or gone riding the Ducks. I have actually never been any of the places you went except for Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. Hopefully our next guests coming in a few weeks will want to go there.
