These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...

I'd like to introduce you all to my newest crafty creation. I love the 70's feel to this stuffie and am so super happy with how she turned out. Its a wee lil one coming in at only 3.5 inches tall, perfect for small hands or for owl collectors!

My weekend has been full of herbal tea, crafting, and reading some awesome books. Two of them have been very inspirational for me: "The Handmade Marketplace" and "The Big Ass Book of Crafts".

The "Handmade Marketplace" has some really good pointers and tips for those looking to make money from their crafts. Deciding to sell your work is a really big step, and figuring out your marketing plan, pricing, target audience...even your look, feel, and logo can be overwhelming! This book takes you through all you need to do, step by step, in a really clear manner.Topics such as basic marketing 101, creating a craft community, successful blogging, advertising, publicity and much more are all covered in perfect detail. I have enjoyed reading this book as I found that my blog, shop, and sales had all stalled because I reached a point where I was feeling overwhelmed. A weeee bit of sudden growth and I got cold feet, and stuck my head in the sand like a bloggy ostrich. Reading this book has been just the kick in the a** that I needed, its perfect for teaching a crafter how to set up achievable and realistic goals.! If you need help balancing your time between blogging, crafting, promoting and STILL having a social/family life then this book is for you!

I also highly recommend "The Big Ass Book of Crafts", I love that it is written by a crafty DUDE! The world needs more crafty dudes in my opinion. This book is FULL FULL FULL of amazing craft ideas. I plan on doing regular posts as I complete projects from this amazing book. If you pick it up and complete a project, please send me a link so that I can see too! First project I plan on tackling from this book? Decoupage light switch covers...hopefully in some rad Mexicana themes! Stay tuned
