Motherhood Monday: A "Too Much Information" Post...

It happened. The dreaded return. 15 months of blessed menstrual freedom, but alas all good things must come to an end. I was totally expecting to not have to deal with this until I started weaning Claire, but here we are barely 6 months into the breastfeeding game and BLAMO! It's PMS time, joy. Because I need that like I need a hole in the head. Poor Claire had her first major head cold, and because of the congestion was feeding less vigorously then normal. Apparently this is all it can take for "Aunt Flo" to stop by for a visit. Great.

What about you moms? When did your flow return? Where you happy? Sad? Hit by the all time mack truck of fatigue like I was? What I would like to know is if this will reverse itself once she is over her cold and back to nursing more often? They say that if you nurse on demand, allow comfort sucking, and wear your baby lots you can enjoy a period free breastfeeding time. SO WHAT GIVES?!? I am sure some of you are thinking "WTF?! Is she seriously blogging about the return of her period?" Yes, yes I am. It is not "icky" or "gross" and we are not in grade 5 anymore here people. Now will someone please get me some chocolate for crying out loud!!!!!!!!

  1. You lasted longer than I did. I got mine about three months in...another one of those "breastfeeding makes you lose weight" kind of deals I think.

  4. Omggodmess, I got mine 3 months! I was still breast feeding too!! I was shocked! And sad!! It lasted 3 days, I wanted to sleep & bitch the whole time. I stopped bf at 6 mo & I have now had it for 3 straight months!! The day before it started I almost killed everyone in sight! /sigh the joys of being women.

  6. I know of people who made it an entire year. I had my period back almost immediately- in fact I hadn't even heard that I wouldn't get it back at that point. Anyways I was having supply issues and I did get some more period free months once that sorted itself out. Not sure if that happens with others? I was also on the pill so I was still having hormone fluctuations (I have MS so these are VERY noticeable for me) and they weren't very fun but at least there wasn't any cramping or blood loss lol. Hope it was just a timing thing and that you get a nice long respite from that demanding monthly visitor.
